Merzouga, a small city located in the Sahara Desert at the edge of Erg Chebbi. This town is located just 20 kilometers from Algeria’s border, where traditional paved roads can be found.
The road ends and the incredible Sahara Desert dunes begin. Merzouga desert is a popular spot for Bivouacs or Moroccan Camel Treks.
Marrakech offers the Overnight Camel Trekking Merzouga. This is one of Morocco’s most sought-after desert tours.
The tour from Marrakech to Merzouga is filled with sights, which makes it very interesting. You’ll see one scene after the other. Amazing landscape changes can be seen from the Haouz plains in Marrakech to many valleys and oases.
The high Atlas Mountains, rocky plateaus, and dramatic Erg Chebbi dunes. This is the perfect trip if you want to explore the deepest deserts of Morocco.
Your Desert tour starts in the morning, towards the Merzouga desert. As we drive on the Mountains, we will pass through the High Atlas Mountains and some Kasbahs. After touring the Atlas Mountains for a while, we will arrive at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou which is a well-known World Heritage site. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Kasbah, before continuing on to Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa). You’ll be able to visit the Taourirt Kazbah and Atlas studios, where many movies were shot including Game of Thrones. Then we will drive to Skoura and Roses Valley. We will spend the night in Dades Valley at the end of our day.
After a traditional breakfast, our three-day trip to the Moroccan Desert begins. The next step is to drive along roads that are lined with old kasbahs, and through many Berber villages at Dades. Then we will head to Tineghir, a 15 km long valley filled with date palms. Continue trekking through the 300m-high canyons as you witness the grey and pink rocks that surround the road.
Then we will head to the Erg Chebbi desert in Merzouga in Sahara Desert. You’ll then enjoy lunch in Tinjdad. We will take you on a one-hour camel ride to Erg Chebbi’s dunes. As you look out at the sunset, you will be able to see the camp. There is nothing more exciting than spending a night at Merzouga’s Sahara dunes under traditional nomadic tents, or outside under the shooting stars. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even spend the night drumming with an experienced camel guide.
Our last day on our tour from Marrakech and Merzouga will see us pick you up at the morning to take you to a local spot where you can view the spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After a delicious breakfast, we’ll take a camel ride back to the main road. You will meet your driver at the main road. He will wait with a comfortable Minibus and drive you back to Ouarzazate via Rissani, the home of Alaouite dynasty.
Tazarine. After lunch and some leisure, we will begin our return journey to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. In the evening, we will return to Marrakech.
